Klub Solitaer e.V. is organising the Dialogue Fields residency programme as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. Three international artists are invited to live in Chemnitz for six weeks at a time and work on the theme of favour.

Katariin Mudist(Tallinn, Estonia) and the artist duo Marie Donike and Johannes Specks (Cologne) have been guests on the Sonnenberg since 19 May. They are living here, getting to know the city, meeting people from Chemnitz and developing new artistic ideas. They are accompanied by the Chemnitz artist and ceramist Viet Phuong Nguyen (TIEV), who is developing his own artistic response. The results of the residency programme are now being presented in the form of artistic interventions.

Viet Phuong Nguyen (TIEV) is both a trained ceramist and part of the self-taught art collective BIKINI KOMMANDO. TIEV's works contain a recognisable rigour of craftsmanship, which at the same time finds contradiction in his childlike defiance of the outdated image of ceramics. The process of his creations is always planned from spontaneity, experimenting and testing new and old techniques, such as baking.

TIEV follows the traces of change on the Sonnenberg. He is interested in places to which he feels personally connected and which at the same time point to developments in the neighbourhood, the origins of which often lie in lack, inequality or social disinterest, but which create the breeding ground for a positive new occupation or appropriation. The resulting objects withdraw from their originally inscribed use as flower vases and become carriers of a utopian moment of change.

21. - 28.06.25

Opening: Saturday, 21.06. 4 - 11 pm, meeting point Lokomov
