The Embassy of Canada in Germany and the organisers of the exhibition You May Dream in HOT cordially invite you to a panel discussion in the exhibition space. The evening is dedicated to the topics of "foreign worlds", cultural stereotypes and the legacy of Karl May in today's context. Artists, academicsand guests from Canada will take part in the discussion.

The discussion will be moderated by Anne Ramstorf - a journalist with experience in the participatory fishbowl format, which also involves the audience in the discussion.

The keynote speech will be given by Prof Dr Christoph Vatter (University of Jena), who will provide insights into how social imaginations are created - and how we can critically question them.

Questions for discussion:

• Can we still imagine foreign worlds as freely today as we did in Karl May's time?
• How do cultural stereotypes continue to have an effect today?
• What perspectives do Canadian artists bring to the Ore Mountains - and how can they inspire new self-images in the region?

The evening will end with a glass of Canadian wine and informal dialogue.

The main language of the event is English. If you would like interpretation into German or Czech, please let us know in advance.
