For the first time, eleven so-called micro-projects will be supported by the Capital of Culture Office. A jury nominated by the programme council of the Capital of Culture application had made the selection. The call for applications launched in August was directed at associations, initiatives and also individual players. The projects are supported with a grant of up to 2,500 euros. The following projects will be supported:

Submitter: Manuela Tschök-Engelhardt
Project idea: “Gablenz blossoms” – artistic design (painting) of four distribution boxes in the residential area.
Funding amount: 1.600 Euro

submitter: Gregor Eichhorn
Project idea: “Der elektrische Reiter” – theatre guest performance based on a film adaptation of the material with Robert Redford.
Funding amount: 1.200 Euro

Submitter: denkART V. i. G.
“Creative Discoverer Tour” – pilot project that wants to make the Sonnenberg and its history tangible. For this purpose, special guided tours are planned in the district, followed by an exchange and artistic documentation of the experience (e.g. exhibition/vernissage).

Submitter: Oliver Treydel/Verein zur Förderung der Solidarität, Demokratie und politische Bildung in Chemnitz – SDB e.V.
Project idea: Support of an urban garden at the Knappteich
Funding amount: 500 Euro

Submitter: Frank Weinhold
Project idea: “Art for Creativity” – studio visits, artist talks with visual artists, dramaturges, actors. The aim is to make artistic creative processes visible and to discuss them.
Funding amount: 800 Euro (period 2017 to 2019)

Submitter: TU Chemnitz, Institute for European Studies
Project Idea: “Europe for All” – Deliberative Assembly: Chemnitz discusses the future of the EU.
Funding amount: 2.500 Euro (period 2017 to 2019)

Project idea; “Kwartirnik” – expansion of the project of living room concerts in aaltra in the context of the Capital of Culture; live transmission via video channels and post-presentations on the net.
Funding amount: 2.500 Euro

submitter: Arthur e.V.
Project idea: “Shifts” – development of an exhibition series in the Medusa Gallery in Haus Arthur; the aim is to promote the connection between art and living space. Pictures, videos and sounds of Chemnitz are created; migrants, the hearing and visually impaired make “their” recordings of Chemnitz.
Funding amount: 2.500 Euro

Project idea: concert series “Cosmo-Folk”.
Funding amount: 800 Euro

Submitter: Theatervereinigung Front e.V.
Project idea: Festival “Off Theater” from Leipzig makes a stop in Chemnitz: performances in the “Komplex” are planned. The aim is to present contemporary performing arts from less reflected European countries.
Funding amount: 2.000 Euro

Project idea: “Project Slam” – event similar to a poetry slam, where project ideas for the European Capital of Culture 2025 are presented.
Funding amount: 1,600 Euro

Ferenc Csàk, the project manager of the Capital of Culture application: “Micro-projects are the lifeblood of the Capital of Culture application. They enable the idea of the European Capital of Culture to be experienced in the city districts”.

Further applications for funding as a microproject can be submitted until 31 March 2018. The documents must include the planned expenses, for example for materials and fees, and a project description. Project ideas should be sent by e-mail to chemnitz2025@stadt-chemnitz.de.
