This is the URL where you can get the immediate help of the city of Chemnitz for people working in the arts and culture.

“Kultur.Sichtbar” is the name of the municipal special programme of the city of Chemnitz. The emergency aid is intended to help Chemnitz’s artists and cultural workers to remain visible and audible despite the current restrictions and difficult conditions.

The programme is part of the package of measures adopted by the City Council on 29 April 2020 to mitigate the social, cultural and sporting consequences of the pandemic (B-116/2020). A total of 250,000 euros will be made available for the emergency aid programme Kultur.Sichtbar.

The maximum grant per measure is 1,000 euros. The funds can be used for marketing activities, digital offers or the use of online channels or for artistic and cultural projects and ideas which can be implemented and perceived according to the current conditions.

Mayor of Culture Ralph Burghart: “I am very pleased that the city councils yesterday paved the way for supporting the arts and culture professionals in Chemnitz by releasing the budget. The city and its inhabitants need cultural life, especially in these times full of restrictions – as far as this is possible. I am therefore looking forward to many creative and surprising ideas”.

The application for funding is made exclusively via an online application procedure. An online application assistant based on the cross-administrative service portal Amt24 was developed using the city’s own services and those of the municipal special-purpose association KISA. This allows cultural workers affected by the Coronakrise to submit all necessary information and evidence in a simple form online and independent of time via www.chemnitz.de/KulturSichtbar. The documents are immediately and regularly retrieved by the Chemnitzer Kulturbetrieb for further processing.

Applications can be submitted immediately and on a continuous basis initially until 30 June 2020.
If the examination of the submitted documents shows that the applicant is entitled to apply and the application is eligible for funding, a decision on funding will be taken promptly.

The measure should be digitally documented as proof of the use of subsidies. It is planned to publish documentary material on the website of the City of Chemnitz.

Requirements: full-time occupation, registered office or permanent establishment in Saxony, not in financial difficulties before March 2020

LAND: EMERGENCY AID LOAN ‘SAXONY HELPS IMMEDIATELY
Requirements: Main occupation, permanent establishment in Saxony, not in financial difficulties as at 31 December 2019
Contents: Loan up to 50,000 € (annual turnover 2019 up to 1 million €), interest-free, 10 years, thereof 3 years redemption-free, no securities

COUNTRY: “THINKING TIME” WORK SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements: freelance artist* in main occupation, main residence in Saxony
Contents: 2.000 €, earmarked: requires concept about the artistic project in the current time of crisis (theoretical and practical examination of the needs and challenges of the current state of emergency in society)
