What the hell is this? What is this? What’s the point? – There are so many questions about the Capital of Culture application, which are now answered in detail on 36 magazine pages.

Project manager Ferenc Csák explains, for example, why Chemnitz has every chance of success with his application, especially against competitors like Dresden. Meanwhile, movers and shakers from former European Capitals of Culture describe what their cities have actually achieved. And of course there is also a short review of a year of successful micro-project funding in Chemnitz. But 25 of the city’s movers and shakers also have their say – they tell us what they expect from the application process. In addition, we list all sorts of good reasons why it is worthwhile to go on a discovery tour in the recently founded cultural region of Chemnitz. Finally, of course, we introduce the Capital of Culture team and all the voluntary supporters. And with this magazine we are also launching a nice participation project for the city, with which we want to turn squares or unused areas in the residential environment into new meeting places.

The free magazine aktuell is available in the Capital of Culture Office, in all city halls, in Tietz, in the theatres of Chemnitz, in the Tourist-Info, in the mobility centre of the CVAG, in the clinical centre of Chemnitz, in the Stadthalle, in the residential centre of the GGG and in the residential shops of the WiC.
