For this year’s Advent season, the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 is grouping together participatory activities in Chemnitz and the cultural region in a brochure entitled “Maker Advent”: from Christmas woodturning, to lace-making, baking, carving, knitting, printing, or drawing, to soldering, lasering, programming, or 3D printing – everything is allowed and, above all, encouraged!

The brochure will be available in Chemnitz and the entire cultural region at tourist information offices, adult education centers, libraries, city halls, cultural institutions, open workshops, and online via the Capital of Culture channels as a digital version. In this way, it creates visibility for the countless workshops and studios in Chemnitz and the region and connects people through the theme of Christmas.

Beyond pre-Christmas consumption, the brochure motivates people to create their own products and learn new (craft) skills in the process. The courses and workshops help to strengthen the maker mentality and the sense of community and at the same time inspire guests in the city and region for local traditions and cultural heritage.

Do you have a suitable Maker Advent event taking place between November 27 and December 24, 2023 and would like to be part of the Maker Advent brochure?

Then we would be pleased if you send us information about your course by September 15, 2023 at the latest using the following form.

No costs are incurred for the inclusion of an offer in the brochure. The Capital of Culture team is responsible for design, production and distribution.

All providers will be informed as soon as possible after submission, at the latest by September 22, 2023, whether their participation offer will be included in the Maker Advent brochure. We ask for your understanding that not all submissions can be considered. In particular, offers that have, for example, a more wellness or sporting character are unfortunately not suitable for the Maker Advent brochure.
