Chemnitz presents itself at Germany’s leading forum for cultural providers and sponsors – as a theme partner.

The 10th KulturInvest congress in Berlin on November 12-13, 2018, will be held under the motto “100 Impulses in the field of tension between aesthetics and efficiency” – and Chemnitz2025 is the theme partner.

With its application to become the European Capital of Culture in 2025, Chemnitz is pursuing the goal of making the economic strength of the region more tangible than ever in its cultural development. Culture is becoming a driver for urban development, an occasion for networking the region and exchange with Europe – and it is becoming the key to open dialogue and diverse encounters between people.

Therefore, the forum “Capital of Culture” of Chemnitz2025, which will be opened by Mayor Barbara Ludwig, offers not only lectures but also room for discussion. In terms of content, the focus will be on the involvement of the city society in the development process. The forum will present practical examples of participatory processes in the development of a municipal cultural strategy or in the creation of a cultural region, the influence of festivals on the urban space and the role of the inhabitants, Leeuwarden Friesland 2028 will report on the extremely successful integration of the population in the Capital of Culture process, raumlabor_Berlin will whet the appetite for alternative strategies of urban renewal and Krach – Kreativraum Chemnitz, the support programme for the cultural and creative industries, will also introduce itself.

It is also a great pleasure for Chemnitz2025 to welcome Dr. Ulrich Fuchs, the current chairman of the EU jury selecting the European Capitals of Culture, who speaks with great experience about the European dimension of Capital of Culture processes.
