On 31 March 2018, the second application phase for micro-projects under the title “City of Culture Europe” came to an end. The result far exceeded our expectations.

Project manager Ferenc Csák: “There is now a huge interest in Chemnitz in the application for the Capital of Culture. This can be seen not only in the number of applications for micro-projects, but also in the quality of ideas for actively shaping the urban environment.

While 26 project ideas were received in the first selection round, 11 of which were selected for funding, the second phase now has just under 60 submissions from all areas of city life – from cultural education to music, from art to the environment to theatre…

By the end of April, the jury nominated by the programme council for the Capital of Culture application will meet and select projects which will then receive funding of up to 2500 euros.

The next round of applications for micro-projects will end on 30 September 2018.
