After two weeks of PARKSOMMER Chemnitz, Dr. Ralf Schulze, managing director of the C³ Chemnitz event centres, today drew a positive conclusion of the first half. The company is organising PARKSOMMER Chemnitz for the second year in a row. “We had a very good weekend with almost 1000 visitors at

Poetry Slam on Friday and a good 600 visitors at the singer-songwriter evening on Saturday. Furthermore, the integration of the Christopher Street Day on Saturday was a very successful combination for both sides”, said the managing director. In the first two weeks, around 9,500 visitors attended the cultural festival, which is free of charge. In Dr. Ralf Schulze’s opinion, the decision to expand the children’s programme proved to be the right one. “Of course, we don’t attract hundreds of children with yoga, handicrafts and painting, but nevertheless the girls and boys have a fixed point of contact in the Stadthallenpark every afternoon of the summer holidays, with the exception of the play-free Monday,” said the family man.

PARKSOMMER Chemnitz will run until 29 July. When asked which of the upcoming events he is particularly looking forward to, Dr. Ralf Schulze gives a diplomatic answer: “I don’t want to emphasize any artist in particular. The special thing about PARKSOMMER is that you can be surprised by very different artists and genres, including those you haven’t really had a chance to see before”.
