The take a seat project in Zietenpark from last year has become independent: Instead of rubbish and undergrowth, there are now beds, benches & a table tennis table. And since this week there are also numerous beds. Together with numerous helpers, Thomas Bossack and Oliver Treydel will stay on. After we supported the “Take a seat” project with 2025€ and bureaucracy at the beginning, the project is now running independently/strong> with funds from the Citizens’ Platform and volunteers.

<Take a seat!: Communities create places and places look at community – this is the idea behind "Take a seat". Since 2019 Chemnitzer are in addition
called upon to fill unused areas or places with their own ideas. Chemnitz 2025 thus supports projects that look at new favourite places in Chemnitz with creativity – turning small squares, gaps between buildings or wastelands into meeting places. The implementation of the projects should bring together as many people as possible who are committed to a beautiful new place in the middle of the district: to urban gardening, to sports, to play, to celebrate, to barbecue, to relax, to meet friends, to toboggan, to splash around, to enjoy art, to listen to music, to play theatre, to drink coffee, to learn, to build a bicycle.

January 2019: In the beginning there was a gap in the house, many branches and garbage. A lot of rubbish.

September 2019: benches instead of rubble, thanks to financial “Take a seat!” support and committed citizens.

Today: The course continues to grow. Meanwhile, a table tennis table, plants and well-maintained paths invite you to linger.
